Gibsons Sandwiches Warning

I recently applied for a job at GIBSONS SANDWICHES, located at Gibson Court, Portside South, Ellesmere Port.

I took a day off work to attend the interview (1st day off in 2 years), only to be told the job I was interested in was no longer available. I was offered an alternative job for less pay than my current salary. With the promise of job training for a few weeks, which could eventually lead to higher paid position in the company. I declined the offer by letter a couple of days later. But a close friend of mine took up their offer.

My friends second paycheque was only for 2 days work instead of 4.
They pointed this out to a supervisor and were assured it would be sorted out.

The next week they were asked not to turn in for 1 day, as there wasn’t enough work for everybody.

The next paycheque was as expected 4 days pay. But no mention of the money owed, apparently still being looked into.

Next week my friend decided to take it to the manager Lawrence, and was told “you aren’t owed any money, because you’re only part time”. Part time even though they had worked 4 days a week,in 10hour shifts.
They told them to shove their job and left.

As the wages are paid 1 week in arrears my friend was still owed 1 weeks money plus 1 day, plus 2 days unpaid work they done and had not been paid for.
Needless to say the last full week paycheque they received was for (you guessed it) 2 days pay.

So all in all my friend is owed 4 days pay, plus 1 day which they should hopefully get next week.

This is a WARNING to anybody considering a job at this place.

If you don’t mind working 4 nights a week, and get paid for 2. Then by all means go for it.

STEER WELL CLEAR OF THESE JOKERS

One more thing they don’t even have a web site to voice your concerns, or queries…..HELLO 21st CENTURY.

I’m sure this creates animosity in the work place, people annoyed about wages and food preparation don’t mix I think…..Weightwatchers sandwiches and rolls…..Think before you buy.
