Seriously though, I think this places provides a good even keel for discussing issues that mean a lot to the residents -- and where applicable, could be used as a launchpad for any campaigns.
The amount of apathy I encounter scares me. People are happy to say they don;t like something, but virtualy no-one is prepared to do anything about it; this isn't even a small regional trend -- I'd say it spans the country (taking my travels as a slightly biased measure)
