Regeneration!

Just read the Standard and on the front cover it goes on about how an extension to the Broughton shopping centre near Chester is going to cause sales in Ellesmere Port, and other small distrist shopping centres, to fall by 5%. The council, who predictably are worried about trade, have written to the Flintshire council to ask for a review on the loss of trade in relation to this new shopping extension. Well with this recent grant to redo the arcades why don't they try and attract a few bigger names! Bon Marche just opened I hear and theres a wilsons (or some abut that I don't know the exact name) but the port would benefit from a shop that sold CDs at competitive prices! As far as I know theres not one place that sells them down there and for me and people of my age (teenagers) music and other media is a huge draw and would provide a huge income for the council. One shop that shouldn't have been allowed to leave is Stolen From Ivor but other than that very few true gems have been lost and even fewer replaced by a better shop. Woolworths is the true key to the port and has been for many years now. Whats needed is a cheaper CD store to compete with Woolworths who tend to sell at the regular, and rather expensive, r.r.p's. Why the government and music industry are surprised at the growing rate of copying and pirating I don't know when the prices are ridiculous especially when the people to which music matters the most have a small amount of money to splash out on such an expensive luxury. I hope the council start using their heads rather than just their wallets to regenerate our home, Ellesmere Port and Neston.
Heres Hoping!

Tom
